The Three Revelation Gifts
1.The Word of Knowledge

The Text: I Corinthians 12:8 (8)For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; Also see: II Samuel 12:1-7;
II Kings 6-17; John 4:17-19; I Corinthians 14:12, 25, 26; Acts 9:10-16; Acts 16:9-10.

The Gift and Operation: This gift will reveal things in the past and in the present. It will operate through a vision and sometimes in dreams; and as it matures in the believer it will operate by an inward voice of the Spirit that will speak to an individual or an entire church body. The word of knowledge will reveal sickness of the flesh and spirit and why it is happening to them, as well as demonic spirits and where they are coming from. A lot of times, but not all of the time, sickness of the flesh is a sign of something wrong in the spirit life, and this gift can reveal the problem to bring healing and life to the person or even a church. By the manifestation of this gift the church can be purified, it can comfort the distressed, gladden the saints, recover lost property, defeat the enemy, and the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified.
But as we can see in the book of I Corinthians, the gifts can be misused, so it is just as important to know what not to do. The first thing to understand is that you are not a Prophet just because you are used in one of the three revelation gifts. So many people are lead astray thinking they are some kind of prophet or something, and missing out on what God really wants for them in their life. This gift can lead to a prophetic ministry, but that does not happen too often, and praise God for that. This gift was given to the body of Christ to help and not to hurt it. To be a part of it and not to point out what all is wrong with it. If you are led by the Spirit of God you will know what to say and what not to say. And just because the Holy Spirit shows you something, does not give you the right to stand up and shout it from the house top. If we are given knowledge about someone and we can’t find any way to say it in love, or we don’t see any life or restoration, then this is only for us to take back into prayer and not to be shared with anyone.

The Manifestation: The word of knowledge will make known the secrets of the heart of men and the manifestation will move the heart of them to say that God is real and will worship Him. I Corinthians 14:24,25: But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: (25)And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth. Another purpose of this gift is also to bring the lost sheep back into the fold, and not by pointing out the bad in their lives, but by revealing the love of God for their life.
The word of knowledge does not need tongues and/or prophesy to work, though it can function with them very easily. For instance: in Acts 9:10-12: And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here Lord. (11)And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, (12)And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. This is a great example of the word of knowledge in action. Let us learn how to walk in this gift like Ananias to the glory of God!

The Three Revelation Gifts
2.The Word of Wisdom

The Text: I Corinthians 12:8 (8)For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; Also see: John 16:13-15; James 1:5,22; I Corinthians 12:1; Colossians 1:9; Acts 21:11,12; Acts 18:9,10; Acts 23:11.

The Gift and Operation: This gift will reveal things from present to the future; this gift can also operate through a vision or in dreams to warn and to comfort a believer in things to come. It can give great understanding in what is going to happen, and to prepare for it. John 16:13-15 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
The word of wisdom and the gift of wisdom are two different things. James 1:5 - If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. The wisdom in James is wisdom to help you to understand how to walk in the faith of the Lord Jesus and to bring knowledge to the believer. Look at verse 22 of the same chapter: Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. This wisdom will show you how to walk in the light.

The Manifestation: The Lord does not want us to be ignorant of His gifts for us. Paul said in I Corinthians 12:1 - Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Then in Colossians 1:9 - For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. And that is what the gifts are for, to give wisdom and understanding to the believer and the church body, wherever it may be.
The word of wisdom is to give insight to the things to come. In Acts 21:11-12 - And when he was come unto to us, he took Paul’s girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. The word of wisdom will reveal good things and bad things. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are made subject to man’s ability to use them. “Where much is given, much is required.” I Peter 4:11 - If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. The word of wisdom is a powerful gift of God. Let us not abuse this gift, but use it to the glory of the church. This is not God’s gossip line! Just because the Holy Spirit is showing you something about someone, does not mean to stand up and shout it out in front of everybody. Be led of the Spirit and let everything be done in the love of the Father, for all the gifts are birthed out of the Love of God. (For God is love!) Sometimes He shows us so we can intercede in prayer for the person, or circumstances that will happen in the future. I believe that prayer can move the hand of God.

The Three Revelation Gifts
3.Discerning of Spirits

The Text: I Corinthians 12:7-12 (10)To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: Also see: John 4:24; 14:12; James 3:16; I Corinthians 2:10-16; 14:33; I Kings 3:5-9; Acts 8:18-23; II Corinthians 11:13-15.

The Gift and Operation: This gift is very important for the Church today, for it will reveal what kinds of spirits are present around you and in the Church. This gift will give you spiritual insight into what the spirit is doing, whether it be good or evil. John 4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. We are a spirit people who are born of the Spirit of God. And if this gift is not operating in the Church of the Living God, believe me, the spirit of confusion will come to destroy who or what it can - the whole church if possible! A lot of churches have been destroyed because the spirit of confusion walked right in and started to work and brought with him envy and strife. James 3:16 - For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. I Corinthians 14:33 - For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. So the “Gift of Confusion” is not of God, it is of the devil. The “Gift of Suspicion” comes out of the carnal man, for he looks at the outward man to judge the flesh - not at his spirit. But they that are born of the spirit, they judge what is in the inside - or the spirit - of man just as we found in I Corinthians 2:10-16.

The Manifestation: I Corinthians 2:10-16 talks about how we only know the revelation of God because the Spirit of God in us reveals to us. The Holy Spirit teaches us to compare spiritual things with spiritual. This is the “How” of having Discernment which is given to us freely of God. (16)For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. If the gift of Discernment is working in the Church and in our lives, you can avoid a lot of problems. All of the gifts were given to make the Church of the Living God strong and powerful. Jesus said, Greater works shall you do because I go to my Father. John 14:12. In I Kings 3:5-9 God spoke to King Solomon in a dream and asked him “what shall I give thee?” King Solomon asked for an understanding heart and to discern between good and evil. God was pleased with King Solomon’s prayer and granted not only his prayer but also long life and wealth among other things. To ask for God to give you a gift that He has offered freely is not selfishness but brings delight to God. Read Acts 8:18-23 - This is a good example of the Gift of Discernment in action. Peter discerned the spirit of Simon’s heart. Simon’s heart was not in the right spirit. This gift will bring out the truth in every situation, whatever it may be, good or bad. II Corinthians 11:13-15 - For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. If the Church of the Living God cannot operate in the gift of Discernment, that is, to know good from evil, it will be in a lot of trouble. When Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, Eve did not discern the serpent’s lies. Nor did Adam discern that Eve had been deceived or that Eve was deceiving him.
It is so very important that the fruit of the Spirit, found in Galatians 5:22-25, is mature in your life before you can fully move in the gifts of the Spirit freely. Hebrews 5:14 - But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The Three Utterance Gifts
1.The Gift of Prophecy

Introduction: This study of the Utterance’s gifts will bring a greater understanding of the moving of the Holy Spirit in the Body of Christ in the church today. All three of these gifts say something from the Spirit of God to man. First we will look at the Gift of Prophecy, then we will move on to the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues and the Gift of Interpretation of Tongues. All of these gifts are given out of the love of God, so if you are speaking in the name of the Lord, it better be of the Spirit of Love. And that will bring life to all that hear what the Spirit says to the Church.

The Text: I Corinthians 12:7-12 (10)To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: Also see: I Corinthians 14:3-5; 14:29-33; Acts 21:8-14; I Samuel 10:10-12; I Timothy 4:14; Revelation 19:10.

The Gift and Operation: This gift is misunderstood more than the rest of them. Unfortunately, people believe that just because you move in this gift that it makes you a prophet. Not true. Out of this gift it is possible that you can be lead into a ministry of prophecy, but that is not what this gift is for. This gift is for the local church body to bring vision and growth to the body of Christ so it can bring warning and comfort to all believers. (I Corinthians 14:31) In many churches today, the pastors have taken control of this gift and it will only be used through him or his wife. They don’t use the gift to bring God’s love to the believers, but to bring control, fear and condemnation. These things are not of God, for God is love. God does not rule His people with fear, but guides us in love. (I John 4:7,8 and 18) The book of I John is an excellent guide to weigh the words that we hear to know if they are of God. People can say a lot of things that sound like prophecy, but these are only their opinions - not prophecy! God’s word is Truth and it will not come back void.
I Corinthians 14:3-5 - But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. (4)He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. (5)I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

The Manifestation: We can see that the Gift of Prophecy has many ways of bringing the truth to light.
1. Through edification: (Instruction; especially moral or spiritual instruction or improvement.) Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
2. Through exhortation: (The inciting to laudable deeds; incitement to that which is good or commendable. Advice; counsel; admonition.) Acts 21:8-14 - And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. (9)And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. (10)And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. (11)And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. (12)And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
3. Through comfort: (To be at peace and rest) I Corinthians 14:29-33 - Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. (30)If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. (31)For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. (32)And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. (33)For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

The Three Utterance Gifts
2.Interpretation of Tongues

The Text: I Corinthians 12:7-12 (10)To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: Also see: Galatians 6:7; I Corinthians 3:1-3; I Corinthians 14:5; I Peter 4:11

The Gift and Operation: The interpretation of tongues is a gift that brings understanding to the church and the believer. This gift does not make you a prophet, but a prophet can also use this gift. I Corinthians 12:11 tells us; But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. All the gifts come from God and He gives them out as He wills it and not man. The interpretation of tongues has been misused in many churches. Many have used this gift to glorify their own works or ministries here on this earth. This is not how God intended this gift to work. This gift is to reveal truth to the body of the Lord Jesus Christ, It is to bring life and to up lift the people of God, not to destroy or to bring condemnation and death. Some pastors use this gift to try to control and manipulate others and that can be very dangerous. Galatians 6:7 tells us; Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. We have to remember that these gifts are birthed out of the love of God and are to bear the love of God and the fruit or attributes of God. And the fruit of the Spirit must guide the believer into a mature life in Christ or we get into trouble like Paul describes in I Corinthians 3:1-3 - And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as babes in Christ. (2)I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. (3)For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

The Manifestation: We need to walk as men and women of God and be led of the Holy Spirit into all truth. When we walk in truth and in love, we can speak the word of the Lord with boldness and love. This gift is not a translation of tongues but the interpretation of tongues - and there is a lot of difference! A translation is word for word from one language to another. Interpretation is what the meaning of the word is according to how you understand it. I believe God did that because He did not want people to create new language but to act in faith. I Corinthians 14:5 - I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. All of the gifts of the Spirit are to edify the body of Christ and to bring understanding. Let’s look at
I Peter 4:11 - If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. When this gift of interpretation of tongues is in operation in your life, you are speaking as an oracle of God. So let the word be fruitful to all that hear: He that hath and ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the church.

The Three Utterance Gifts
3.Diverse Kinds of Tongues

The Text: I Corinthians 12:7-12 (10)To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: Also see: Acts 2:4-6; 19:6-9; I Corinthians 12:14-15; 14:4,12-16,27; Hebrews 2:4; Jude 1:20;
Ephesians 3:3-4.

The Gift and Operation: This gift of the Holy Spirit is to be used in many different ways and we see an example in Acts 2:4-6: And they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (5)And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. (6)Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. It was a supernatural manifestation of God speaking through the people. In verse 11, the Cretes and Arabians declare, we do hear them speak in our tongue the wonderful works of God. The tongues were unknown to the speaker but not to the hearer. God opens the ears of the unbeliever to hear the wonderful works of God. That is Divers Kinds of Tongues in full operation of the Holy Spirit. There are many examples of this gift in operation in Acts. Look at Acts 19:6-9 - And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (7)And all the men were about twelve. (8)And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. (9)But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. Also look at I Corinthians 14:4 - He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. Paul also speaks of this and the other gifts in Hebrews 2:4 - God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

The Manifestation: Speaking in the unknown tongues will build you up in the spirit man and will pray down the mysteries of God into your spirit. Prophecy makes these things known unto you. Jude 1:20 - But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Ephesians 3:3-4 - How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words; (4)Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,) Then there is the unknown tongues to the body of Christ. I Corinthians 14:27 -If any man speak in the unknown tongues, let it be by two, or at the most three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

* Unknown tongues for the unbeliever to bring salvation.
* Unknown tongues for the believer to bring edification.
* Unknown tongues for the church of the Living God to edify.
* Unknown tongues for prophecy to make known the revelation of God.

The Three Utterance Gifts
3.Diverse Kinds of Tongues

This gift is so very important not only in the church, but also in the individual believer. I brings with it the power of God working through the church, and the believers. I Corinthians 14:12-16 - Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. (13)Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. (14)For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. (15)What is it then? I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. (16)Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

I believe that the Holy Spirit is the life of the body of Christ, and it manifests itself through the unknown tongues. The body of Christ has three parts: body, soul, and spirit. But if the spirit is gone, the body is dead.

The Three Power Gifts
1.The Gift of Faith

Introduction: These three Power Gifts are given to the church body for the purpose of bringing the reality of Gods power to the world. Jesus was not ashamed of the power to heal the sick or to raise the dead or to cast out devils, and he has given these gifts so we can do the work of the Father in the Name of His Son Jesus. Mark 16:15-18 - And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (16)He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (17)And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall tehy cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (18)they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

The Gift and Operation: The Gift of Faith is a supernatural working of the Holy Spirit through a person to bring more than a miracle; but an undisputed act of God. Acts 13:11 - And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. In this instance, the gift of faith is operating in Paul’s life to show the people that God is all powerful. This gift will give you the boldness to speak with the voice of God in the power of the Holy Spirit to bring healing or blindness to people. It is creative power to speak into existence a thing tha twas not into something that is. Jesus told us this way: John 14:12-14 - Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (13)And whatsoever ye sahll ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (14)If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. This is not the faith that brings us unto salvation, or even the faith that helps us overcome our flesh. This is the faith that causes us to speak as the oracles of God. I Peter 4:11 - If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

The Manifestation: This is a gift of power to the church to proclaim and glorify the name of Jesus to all the earth to show the world that God is real. James 5:17-20 - Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. (18)And he prayed again, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. (19)Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; (20)let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way, shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. Satan is not ashamed to show his power on this earth through deceit and lies to pervert the truth of God. He is going down and he is trying to take as many as he can down with him. There will be no excuse for the unbeliever when they stand before the Lord God Almighty! He has revealed Himself over and over again, but people would rather believe a lie so they can live the way they want to. But God is great in mercy and in love: II Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Let the body of Christ use these gifts to reveal the power and the glory of God, so the world may know that Jesus is Lord over all the earth and heavens. And if the church of the Living God will do this, there will be NO EXCUSE NECESSARY!

The Three Power Gifts
2.The Gift of Healing

The Text: I Corinthians 12:7-12 (9)To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; I Peter 2:24; Luke 4:18,19; Mark 16:18; Matthew 14:14; Mark 1:41; I Corinthians 12:11; Romans 12:1

The Gift and Operation: This gift is a power gift of the church for the healing of the spiritual and physical parts of the body of Christ, to one person or to many at once. This is a wonderful gift which is given to the church to bring glory and honor to God. The sad thing is, that many churches do not believe that this gift is for today. The truth is that healing was given to us in Pilate’s judgement hall even before the cross! I Peter 2:24 - Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. That’s what is says, look for yourself. So healing was paid for first, and then our salvation. What great love He has for us. Jesus brought us the spiritual and physical healing that we should live unto righteousness. When we put away the things of the flesh, and die to sin (ourselves) and put on the mind of Christ, we can walk in that perfect healing and offer that healing to others: Luke 4:18,19 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. (19)To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

The Manifestation: The gift of healing is different than what is explained in Mark 16:18 - They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This is a supernatural gift of instant healing which is performed in public not private. The compassion is so great that it is not bound to the faith or belief of others. Jesus came to heal the sick and He is still healing them by His Spirit through the Holy Spirit that is operating in the gift of healing today. The Spirit is looking for someone to manifest this gift in the power which it was given to the Apostles, and faith is the key to unlock the door. Compassion will move this gift to perfection in your life and love will bring maturity to the bearer of this wonderful gift. Matthew 14:14 - And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Mark 1:41 - Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. Compassion is a gift of the Spirit, not to be confused with pity, which is a gift of the soul man. Compassion always brings forth the love of Christ and boldness and faith. Pity brings forth “charity” giving and can lead to contempt. Compassion never causes others to become defensive or hurt. Pity often causes pain and contempt to the bearer and the receiver. Compassion sees others the way Christ sees others. It is very important that we are only the bearers of these gifts to the church of the living God. The gifts possess us, we do not possess them. For all of these gifts are given as He wills: I Corinthians 12:11 - But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. There are many ministers today that believe that they own these gifts and this makes them someone greater than others. We always have to keep in mind that there is none greater than God and no anointing greater than the other. Romans 12:1 - I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. We are all servants and God chooses to whom He will give any gift, not man. I am glad that God does the giving of the gift for He knows what is in the heart of man.

The Three Power Gifts
3.The Gift of Working of Miracles

The Text: I Corinthians 12:7-12 (10)To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. Acts 8:5-13,39; 19:11,12; 28:1-6; Mark 16:17,18; I Corinthians 12:11; 12:31; 14:12.

The Gift and Operation: This gift of the Spirit is a supernatural manifestation of the power of God working through the man of God to bring the knowledge of God to a lost world. We see in the book of Acts this gift was used by the Apostles and the saints: Acts 8:5-8 - Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. (6)And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. (7)For unclean spirits came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. (8)And there was great joy in that city. Acts 19:11,12 - And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: (12)So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. This gift not only works through you, but also in you. When Paul was shipwrecked on the Island of Melita (Acts 28:1-6) and a deadly viper came out of the heat of the fire and fastened on his hand, everybody thought he was a dead man, but no harm came to him. They all thought he was a god, but God was working the gift of miracles in Paul. This gift saved him from death numerous times.

The Manifestation: This gift is for all who believe and is given to mature Christians who are walking in the fruit of the Spirit and the Love of God. I Corinthians 12:31 - But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. “Without the fruit of the Spirit (love), we are just a religious noise.(I Corinthians 13:1) The fruit of the Spirit is love, (Galatians 5:22,23) and it is manifested in joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:

(1) Joy is love’s strength.
(2) Peace is love’s security.
(3) Long-suffering is love’s patience.
(4) Gentleness is love’s conduct.
(5) Goodness is love’s character.
(6) Faith is love’s confidence.
(7) Meekness is love’s humility.
(8) Temperance is love’s victory.

‘Against such there is no law.’
A Holy Spirit-controlled man needs no law to cause him to live a righteous life. The secret of a Spirit-controlled life is found: Romans 12:1,2. Put your all on the altar, and the Holy Spirit will fill your heart with the love of God. (Romans 5:5)” (from the Thomas Nelson, The Open Bible: Christian life outlines and study notes, pp1102.)
The working of miracles is not something that you can just conjure or work for or manipulate.(I Corinthians 12:11) When Philip was ministering to the Ethiopian, Philip was only where he was supposed to be and did not pray or choose to leave.(Acts 8:39,40) Philip was only walking in the Spirit of God’s love. All of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are to bring glory and honor to God and to the edifying of the body of Christ, or, we can say, to bring forth life and life more abundantly. I Corinthians 14:12 - Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

Introduction

The High Priesthood was an office for a man that was called and knew God and feared Him. The first time it appears in the Bible is in Genesis 14:18 - And Melchizedek, King of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the Most High God.

Then we see in Exodus 40:12-15 - And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the congregation, and wash them with water. (13)And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. (14)And thou shalt bring his son’s and clothe them with coats: (15)And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

In this study we will look at the priesthood and see what God demanded of man to become a servant of God as a high priest; I believe these are the same demands for today’s ministers, and their walk with the Lord. It was always God’s plan to have a man that He could speak through and bring Spiritual understanding to the people, and that His word would be made known to all. What a loving God we serve; to care for us enough to desire to speak to us, and through us, and teach us.

We can see in the Scriptures that it is very important to God that the High Priest was to be perfect in every way, and that was hard to do. Many of the priests fell short of it. Hebrews 5:1-9 - For every high priest taken from men is ordained for men in the things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins; (2)who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. (3)And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. (4) And no man taketh this honor unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. (5)So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he said unto him, thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee. (6)As he said also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (7)Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; (8)though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; (9)And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Jesus, the perfect man, had to be the one to bring the full salvation to mankind.

Hebrews 9:11 - But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.
II Corinthians 5:1-5 - For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in heaven.

Introduction - page 2

Revelation 1:5,6 - And from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, and the first-begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, (6)and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
I Peter 2:9 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

We are a spiritual tribe of God called out of every nation to bring forth the praises of God to a lost and dying world. Jesus, our High Priest told us in Matthew 5:14-16 - Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. (15)Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (16)Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The priests of the old testament were taken from the tribe of Levi as young boys and were trained in the ways of the Priesthood. Malachi 2:7,8 - For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of Hosts. (8)But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of Host.

Today we have the same problem, we take young boys and train them in the way of God. But if the Spirit of God is not in them, then all we are doing is teaching the letter of the law and not the Spirit of it.

Leviticus 21:16-23 - And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, (17)speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. (18)For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, (19)of a man that is broken-footed, or broken-handed, (20)or crookbacked, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvey, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; (21)No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. (22)He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. (23)Only he shall not go in unto the veil, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them.

1. A Blemish: Leviticus 21:16-21

Lev.21:17…Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

Definition of Blemish:
A flaw in character or weakness. Any mark that makes something imperfect; a defect.

I Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.
God has called us to be holy, and put on the perfection of Jesus through His blood. To be holy is to be made complete in Him. In Jesus we are made all complete.

I John 1:5 - But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected; hereby know we that we are in Him.
Hebrews 7:11 - If, therefore, perfection were by the levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Hebrews 9:11 - But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building.
I Corinthians 3:16 - Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Let us look at this: If the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin and all unrighteousness, that means that we can stand in the perfection of Jesus and be perfect.

Paul said in II Corinthians 13:11 - Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Well I said all of that to say this: we are a chosen generation, a Royal Priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him. Who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

2. A Blind Man: Leviticus 21:18

There is none so blind than he that will not see; the doctrine of men will blind you so you cannot see the glory of God.

We can see the spiritual blindness of the priests of Jesus day. St. John 9:39,40,41 - 39:Jesus said, For judgement I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. 40:And some of the Pharisees which were with Him heard these words; and said unto Him, are we blind also? 41:Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should nave no sin: but now ye say, we see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Isaiah 6:9,10 - And He said, Go, and tell this people, hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10:Make the heart of this people fat, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert and be healed.

A spiritually blind priest cannot see the vision or purpose of God in his life or the life of the people of God to lead them in the direction they must go, for without a vision my people will perish.
Luke 6:39 - Can the blind lead the blind?shall they not both fall into the ditch?

A Spiritual Leader must see with the eyes of the Spirit. Jesus told us how to do this in St. John 5:19-20 - The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. 20:For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth Him all things that Himself doeth: and shew Him greater works thatn these, that ye may marvel.

Jesus said in St. John 16:13 - that the Holy Spirit will show us things to come and lead us into all truth.

We will end with this: Paul said in Ephesians 1:18 - The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.

3. The Lame Man: Leviticus 21:18

Definition of Lame:
Disabled in the leg or foot; crippled. Weak; painful; or unsatisfactory.

The lame man, he can see what God is doing, but for some reason cannot, or will not, walk in it. This type of priest will use God’s word as a crutch to support their own doctrine’s. He will always compromise in what he believes.

Paul told Timothy in I Timothy 1:6,7 - From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7:Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. His pain or weakness is that he cannot control his own flesh.

In Romans 8:5 - For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh… and the flesh will knock your feet right out from under you and then you will become spiritually lame.

Proverbs 26:7 - The legs of the lame are not equal; so is a parable in the mouth of a fool. Bitterness is the most likely thing that happens to people who become spiritually lame.

Hebrews 12:12,13 - Wherefore, lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13:And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Your walk is very important to the Lord.

Philippians 3:17 - Brethren, be followers of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. 18: for many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.

The walk of Jesus in I John 2:6 tells it all: He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.

4. A Flat Nose: Leviticus 21:18

To look at this blemish you could wonder what was the meaning of this, but all these have a Spiritual and physical meaning. The natural sense is to smell what is good or what is bad. A lot of times you can tell a long way off what smells good and what smells bad. The word smell means to detect or become aware. The Spiritual sense is to discern good and evil, and a lot of priests cannot do this. They just let whatever happens happen. What a sorry thing for the people of God.
Paul tells us what will happen in II Corinthians 11:13-15 - For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14: And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15: Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. We can see in the old testament 1 Kings 3-9 Solomon ask the Lord for discernment to rule over the people of Israel

There are a lot of evil spirits out in the world today and we need to know how to discern them. Hebrews 5:14 - but strong meat belongeth to them that are full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

And in I Corinthians 2:14 - But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
That is why we read in I John 4:1 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. By these words, not only the ministers need discernment, but the people of God ALSO need discernment.

5. Anything Superfluous: Leviticus 21:18

The word superfluous means more than needed or desired (unnecessary); a surplus. It is like someone with six fingers or toes. Some may say a surplus of fat is superfluous, but I won’t. Let us look at the spiritual meaning of this word and how it affects us today: The reality of it is that God is enough. He is all complete. You can’t add to Him or take away from Him. He is All in All, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.

I Corinthian 2:16 - For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?….

I Corinthians 8:1,2 - Now as touching things offered unto idol, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 2: and if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

A lot of ministers who believe they are above sin, fall to the sins of the flesh. They think they can justify what they do, whatever it is. In the beginning, when God created man, he was made perfect, without sin, and lived in the garden with Eve. And they both could walk and talk with God. What a thought to commune with God face to face. Sin is superfluous to man. It was added later when they disobeyed God’s Word. And added to man that he would return tot he dust of the Earth. And for two thousand years, man lived with this curse, until the second Adam came to Earth to set men free.

I Corinthians 15:22 - For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 15:45 - And so it is written, The first man, Adam, was made a living soul; the last adam was made a quickening spirit.
Jesus took that which was superfluous from man, that is to say, sin and the curse. So we can now stand complete in Him, and through His blood we can become the Adam with Him and put on the perfection of righteousness of God.
Romans 8:14 - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God.

6. Broken Footed: Leviticus 21:19

A priest who has a broken foot, at one time could walk straight, but something or someone turned him away from the truth. For a time, he did see the vision of God, but couldn’t walk in it.

II Peter 2:21,22 - For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known it to turn from the Holy commandment delivered unto them. 22: But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb: The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
This blemish of a priest show’s that he stepped on a doctrine or a truth that broke him in his walk with the Lord. What happens in this case is he made up his own truth as he goes and says this is revelation of God.

I Peter 2:1,2 - But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2: And many shall follow their pernicious way; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
A half truth is more dangerous than a lie. A lie can be put down easy, but a half truth more difficult. Where does the truth end and the lie begin. That’s the devil’s greatest weapon and has killed more people than anything else. We need the Holy Spirit to lead us.

Psalm 121:3 - He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Proverbs 3:26 - For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

7. Broken Handed: Leviticus 21:16

A priest with this blemish of a broken hand can’t reach out and take the vision and give it to the people of God. He does not have the power of God to do the Spiritual Warfare to bring the vision to pass. His weak hand is a lack of Spiritual leadership; he has a hard time in making decisions, he will say one thing and do another.

James 1:6-8 - But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed, 7:For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. 8:A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

This priest will tell people what they want to hear so he can stay in good standing with them. He will compromise the Word of God to suit them. The priesthood is to serve God first, then the people will hear the Word of the Lord, but this priest will not keep his word. He will break his promises he made to people, you can’t trust him. He will lie to your face and not blink and eye.

II Peter 2:15-18 - Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness. 16:But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbade the madness of the prophet. 17:These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the midst of darkness is reserved for ever. 18:For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from who live in error.
Paul said to Timothy: II Timothy 3:5 - Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Paul warns us to stay far away from this type of priest.
II Corinthians 13:5 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your ownselves. Know ye not your ownselves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates, Christ in you the hope of Glory.

8. Crookbacked: Leviticus 21:20

A Priest with this blemish has a lot of distortion in his life. The meaning of this word is something not straight: bent; dishonest; wicked. This priest is one of the worst of them all. He knows the truth, he can see vision, but goes out of his way to destroy the things of God and pollute his people. He blames God for his own failure and short-comings. His anger eats at him all the time. He can be most dangerous at times.

I Samuel 2:22-24 - Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 23:And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? For I hear of your evil dealings by all this people. 24:Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the Lord’s people to transgress.
The sin of the priests will destroy a nation of God. We see this in the Old Testament more than once. But thanks be to God that his mercy is everlasting!

I Samuel 2:35 - And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build nim a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointer forever.
I Timothy 3:1 - This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. Let us keep our hearts and minds in the love of God.

9. Dwarf: Leviticus 21:20

This blemish means: a thing much below normal size or to hinder from growing to natural size; to stunt. This priest is one that likes to make some one look smaller than himself, he feels inferior in his life but hides it well. He will tell you he knows the Word, but he is a Spiritual dwarf. He is a novice.

I Timothy 1:7 - Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
This priest will keep this people from growing in the truth, and when someone starts to grow, he will try to discourage him in anyway he can. This priest knows just enough to get by. This is a very carnal man.

I Corinthians 3:1-3 - And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but unto carnal, even as babes in Christ. 2:I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3:For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Hebrews 6:1,2 - Therefore leaving the principled of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2:of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement.

Don’t let anyone stunt your walk with the Lord, grow on to the fullness of God.

10. Blemish in the Eye: Leviticus 21:20

This blemish is one that a lot of ministers have today. It is hard to see all that we need to see all the time. People expect, sometimes, way to much of their priest. It is hard to live up to someone else’s expectations. It will blur your vision of people and of God, and it is hard to see into the Spirit the things that God wants to be done when you are having a hard time seeing through the blur. And you can tell because they usually go this verse:
II Corinthians 13:12 - For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And they don’t really know what they are talking about when they read this verse, because they are spiritually impaired in their vision. But they are good at guessing, and know about human nature, and they usually go into sociology. But sociology can not look into the spiritual man. It can only try to help the natural man.

I Corinthians 2:11-14 - For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12:Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13:Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth; but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14:But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:22,23 - The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23:But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

A High Priest must be able to see the vision of God clearly to fulfill the will of God. He not only needs good eyes in the natural man, but also in the Spiritual man too.

Psalm 32:8 - I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

11. Scurvy: Leviticus 21:20

The word “scurvy” means a lack of. In the life of a priest, it is a life of dedication to God and His Word. A lack of prayer and fasting and study will bring about a slow spiritual death, the vision will slowly die. I have seen this happen to a church. What an agonizing thing to see. Pain and hurt is all that is left and it would take a big vitamin shot in the arm to help. Sometimes, the only thing to do is for the priest to leave before he kills everyone with him - and I have seen this happen also. Get back to God before it is too late! Satan is a liar! It is never too late to go to a loving God who waits for you.

I Thessalonians 3:10 - Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see Your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith.
Paul goes on in 4:12 - and tell them this, That ye walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

Paul tells Timothy in II Timothy 2:15 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.

Don’t let this disease destroy you.

12. Scabbed: Leviticus 21:20

A “scab” is a crust that is formed over a wound or sore. A spiritual wound will keep your mind off the things of the Lord. All you can think of is this wound that is hurting you. When one part of the body hurts, the whole body suffers. And when the priest is hurt, the whole body feels it. This priest needs the healing oil of the Holy Spirit to come on his life. If not, the devil will be there to pick at the sore until it bleeds. This is usually a wound that a friend has done to him, someone he trusted and was betrayed by him.

Proverbs 18:8 - The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
This is a deep wound that can take a long time to heal, if it ever can be. And this happens a lot more times than a minister would like to confess. A minister said to me, that a minister must have the mind of a scholar, the heart of a child, and the skin if a rhinoceros. That pretty much tells it all.

Paul had a thorn in the flesh and sought three times that it would depart from him, but II Corinthians 12:9 - the Lord said to him, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

13. Stone’s Broken: Leviticus 21:20

This priest cannot conceive or give birth to the vision of God. He is impotent. The need to bring forth the things of God are not in him, he is spiritually a dead man.

Genesis 1:28 - And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it. But this priest has no desire to do anything. I guess he is like a spiritual eunuch, all the desire is gone out of his life. You have to wonder what happened to this priest? I think it happens more than we think. He is usually in it for a profession, like a doctor or a lawyer, just something to gain a livelihood, not knowing the anointing of God that is supposed to go with it.

Malachi 2:1-2 - And now, O ye priest, this commandment is for you. (2)If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, or give glory unto My name, saith the Lord of host, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

Jesus had a lot of problems with the priest’s of His day.
Matthew 12:22-25 - then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. (23)And all the people were amazed and said, Is not this the son of David? (24)But when the pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils but by Beelzebub the prince of devils. (25)And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.
All through Jesus’ ministry, the priests did everything to destroy him, and when Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead, that was it! They took counsel to kill him,
John 11:53 - Then from that day forth, they took counsel together for to put him to death.
I Corinthians 2:8 - Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.

In ending this study, let’s look at one more verse:
I Peter 2:5 - Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ

1. Depression

Someone of low spirits; a feeling of dejection with sadness

Many people cannot hide this problem. It's on their face and the way their body moves. Some people can try to hide it with a smile or a laugh, but inside is a real dark feeling, this is a spiritual thing that is manifesting in the flesh. We can see in Eph 6:12; for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This is a spiritual attack against you in a deep place in your life. It is a war of soul, spirit and mind. This is Satan's attack to take you down the path of being a victim. It is all about you, and the hurt you feel. So many people only care about what people did or didn't do. Satan wants you to look at yourself, see what they did to you, and see what they say about you. It's all a lie to take your eyes off Jesus.

Satan knows how to get to you. He will try to destroy who you are in Christ. The church teaches that we have low self esteem and that is the problem with people with depression. But the real problem is Satan's first attack to take you down a path of total control of your life. For years Churches have pastors who are therapists, not real pastors, and these men started to believe that counseling would help these people with depression. Talking about it would help, and if that doesn't work, well we will try drugs. Anti-depressants in just a little dose, just for awhile, the path of addiction begins. We begin to trust in drugs more than the word of God. They say I feel better now but the problem is still there buried by the drugs. The word say cast all your cares on Him for He careth for you. Satan hates God and all of his creations. That also includes you. In his own mind if he can destroy you, he can hurt God and that is the battle plan of Satan and it has been his plan for a long time now, ever since Adam and Eve and believe me, he knows his job and does it well. Just look around; it is not hard to see.

This is why Paul said I die daily. We have to die to self. Who cares what people do or say? I will walk in forgiveness of all that offend me and I receive forgiveness of my Lord Jesus Christ who saved me from the enemy of myself.

I find sometimes I am my worst enemy, but praise the Lord he has slain that man and raised a new man in Him.

When Satan comes with depression the best way to overcome is to praise JESUS and then praise him again. Praise will make the enemy flee.

1. 1 Thessalonians 5:15-18 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

You have to get over yourself. Look at what they did to Jesus. He did nothing but good and they crucified Him. Jesus said they hate me, and they will hate you.

James 1:2-3 my brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Many Christians live in Depression for many years and stay in this condition for a very long time, and the cure is so easy like Moses in the wilderness; look up and live. Look at the serpent. The serpent is a tap of sin; I believe this sin is unbelief, not trusting totally in God for the answer. If you don't get victory to overcome this; to Satan will say one down two to go.
2. Oppression

The imposition of unreasonable burdens, to go though misery, mental distress, hardship

Oppression can be a dark time in people lives. You lose a job or your family is broken apart or you lose a love one. You feel like where is God in all this. This is an attack on your faith. A lot of people think that it is not my fault. Sometimes they're right, but Satan will tell them they are a victim in this. They will not take responsibility for their actions; they say things like "I couldn't stop." or "I didn't know what was happening." They blame every one. People go two ways here: some grow closer to God and some blame God for all that is happening to them. When you start the blame game with God, it is a game that no one wins but all are losers.

Satan starts his lies he says "God doesn't care about you," and "It is your fault you got sin in your life" or even "How can God love you after what you did?" He even uses lines like "Nobody cares about what you want or what your needs are" Self pity is a strong hold for him. It starts down a path of self destruction. Satan wants to isolate you so you see only yourself and nobody but you. This is where a lot of Christians begin to go down the path of addiction at the point. Let me say here that addiction is a form of selfishness in a deep and disturbing way. It only cares for what it can get; no matter what the means justifies the end. They will lie, steal, or do whatever it will take to feed their addiction.

Satan enjoys seeing the misery of what man can do to one's self with little or no effort by him. This addiction takes the victim mentality to an all new level. They start believing their own lies. It is amazing to see this going on in their minds. It's "almost" funny as we can see depression work to destroy who you are. Oppression not only tries to destroy you but will try to destroy others around you; the thing is some Christians can still function here. This is in a lot of churches I have seen. There are even board members with this affliction. They have lost their faith to believe that God cares for them. This is a sad thing for the churches. At this stage many Pastors and therapists fear what could happen if his person goes off the deep end? This is more than they can handle. They need more counseling, and stronger drugs to help them to control what they are doing. The antidepressant is not working so let's try mood enhancers. Let's see what happens now.

Let me say here that a lot of therapists are on some of these drugs and sorry to say so are some pastors. They are trying to help in the flesh when this is a spiritual problem and only the power of the blood of Jesus can help.

2 Timothy 3:5 says having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof from such turn away.

James 1:26 says If a man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Yet, he still sits on the board, and some still Pastor Churches. He really believes that God put him there to clean up the mess. He believes in what I call the Cosmic Christ Syndrome. Yes He's out there somewhere but not here, and if He were here why am I here doing his work. This man can't even take care of his own life, but he will tell you how to live yours. In his heart he does not believe that God answers prayer, in his mind he says I prayed and not a thing happen so God doesn't care.

We see in James 1:6 where the problem is BUT LET HIM ASK IN FAITH, nothing waving. For he that waverth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. This is one of the things that keeps the power of God out of the churches today. One of the big lies of the enemy is shame; down deep they know the truth. But hurt and distrust overpower them so much that it clouds their minds. Satan wants you unstable and unable to think. It just gets darker and darker for them; the light of God is slowly going out. If you don't get victory over it will be two down one to go.

3. Obsession

The act from an evil spirit ruling a person, it has freedom to come and go as it please

This is going down into real darkness, in obsession. Everybody is a hypocrite, nobody knows the truth. In a very sick and disturbing way, this kind of person has made up a twisted and brazen understanding of truth. It is a mix of things that make since and then they are in outer space. Sometimes you want to laugh right out loud, like where did you get that? You know that makes no sense? But Satan has them believing in what he say to them no matter what it is. Nobody is going tell them different. They know the truth! This would be funny if it wasn't so sad. For at one time they knew the real truth but turn away from it. This is the battle of the mind and spirit. Satan comes and goes at pleases him; he is preparing a house to dwell in.

What's weird is that a lot of these people are still going to church, even though what they believe is way out there, the spiritual power of God is like a moth to the flame. It is hard to understand. All I can say is God's mercy is great far above all the Earth. At this stage a lot of people are still in counseling but know the drugs have changed a lot to hardcore drugs and these really don't work, sometimes it gets worse. It's a bizarre world for them sometime they are in their right mind one minute and crazy the next, the therapist will say the drugs are working but that is a lie. Satan almost has them right where he wants them.

It is hard for them to keep control of their lives. At this stage what I call black out starts to happen. Days go by and they don't even know what they did or didn't do. This is what is scary to them and it could be scary to us. A lot of them are in and out of hospitals.

The doctors don't know what to do with this. They find themselves in and out of craziness. Some go back to churches for help, but the churches don't know what to do. So a lot of churches just call the police and the police take them away, back to the hospitals. The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result.

Obsession is also the anger step. When you reach obsession, you become so obsessed with being right you will sacrifice fellowship to be alone.

Hebrews 10:25 says not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

At this time, you need the body of Christ more. You will find any reason to subtract yourself from the equation of God. You will find fault in the Pastor, fault in the members, fault in the elders, but you in your own mind are always right. You couldn't be more wrong. You anger quickly and become quick to react to anything as you want to be left alone and secluded. You hide under the bed rather than spending time in your prayer closet. Once you are totally isolated, Satan can just move in. It's no longer a condo to him, it's his home.

So many people live like this, crying out and no one can help; not doctors, not churches, not the government, no one. Let me say here that most all pastors and people in leadership with this problem have abandoned their faith and the church. If not, get out of that church. Now you know why Jesus wept. Only by the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit can you get help. If they don't get victory with this, it's three down. The Devil he has you.

4. Possession

To occupy in person; to inhabit, to gain strong influence,
to dominate

The darkness is complete. In their life all hope is gone. They have lost all ability to control what is going on. The insanity goes to whole new level. No matter what the drugs are, they don't work.

We can see in Mark 5:2-13 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with a unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains; Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces" neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worship him, And cried with a loud voice and said, what have I to do with thee, Jesus thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asks him, what is thy name? And he answered; my name is legion; for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and enter into the swine; and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand ;) and were choked in the sea. And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. Not only the possession is scary to the world, but also the one who is the deliverer.

In Mark 16:17 we read; And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

These are some of the last words of Christ, He also said; will I find Faith when I come back, this faith that I left for you. What have we done with it, because we have forsaken his words; what hope do these sad people have, only by the power of the Holy one is there hope for them, not drugs, not counseling, and not doctors. Only by the blood of Jesus can we command the evil ones to go. At this stage it not always easy to do. If they challenge your Lord, they will challenge you. So don't be surprised if they try to talk to you. You must take auditory over the spirit right away; you don't let him talk to you. If you do, it will lie and say that you don't have the power to do this. But it is not you. It is the power of Jesus that casts them out.

1 Corinthians 2: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God.

1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, But in power.

I say unto you fear not! Do not show fear! Only show power.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. But believe me a lot of times you better be ready to go to warfare, but the victory is already ours. Jesus defeated him on Calvary. Instead of putting them in metal hospitals, we need to deliver them by the power of God and set them free. It will take prayer and fasting and believing in what Jesus said. Like Jude said that we should earnestly contend for the faith which was delivered unto the saints. Let us earnestly contend for that faith so we can walk in His power and strength, so the world may know that there is a God who Love's and care for them

2 Peter 3:9 says not willing that any should perish, but all come to repentance.

Let us be the light of God in the darkness of this world.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Let us walk even as He walked, let us fight the good fight of Faith.
